I’m fan of magic

I was born in a sorcerous place. A very hot place. So hot that if you put eggs in the sand they would boil.

But when I came out of my mom it started to snow. Huge snowflakes quietly covered the earth. I didn’t cry. It was very unusual for this place. Everybody was fascinated.

For a long time I was considered a russian. After many years living in France the authorities gave me a french passport. I was happy, because two passports opened many borders for me. From this moment on I’ve considered myself merely a citizen of Earth. I’ve tried to speak all languages, and enjoy people everywhere.

I consider travelling to be the best education there is. And of course I draw when I was travelling:

In between I had some great times in universities, academies and other higher forms of art education:

Art school in Orenburg, Russia:

Master diploma, artist, fine arts teacher

Academy of Arts, Moscow:

Sculpture

University of Orenburg, Russia

Architecture

University of Cinema and TV, St. Petersburg, Russia

Filmmaker

Herzen’s University, St Petersburg, Russia

Fine arts

Université du Sud, Toulon, France

Master, «Teaching and training»

Here’s a secret:

Never in my life did I have to show any diploma for any job I’ve had. I worked as a designer, art director, 3D animator and project manager. Nobody cared about diplomas.

What do people really want from an artist?’

That’s easy: A picture

Like in “The Little prince,” remember?

– Draw me a sheep…

So, if someone wants a portrait, I show them https://www.portrait-dessin.fr

I do animations too http://cinema.atelier-anna.fr/videos/ , if that’s what people want to see

Illustrations like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7SC4AU-UUk are handy for making books

And if somebody wonders about what I’ve studied then http://anna.berthiau.com should clear things up

My first job was to draw naked women for a newspaper.

Something along these lines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ1bL1icGdk

In fact, I got paid for every sketch that got printed. I noticed that the editor liked the drawings as long as there was a naked body in them. I was 15. I had just finished my first year of art school. Life was full of surprises.

At 19 I had my diploma. I went to the biggest cinematic company in Moscow and asked them for a job. When they got over their amazement of my forwardness, they immediately gave me a job doing animations.

Another nice moment was when I did 16 illustrations and cover for a fairytale, and the publishing house sold 20000 copies in one day. When the director came to give me the check, his face was one big smile. It makes me happy when I think about it. Maybe they can make you smile, too: https://www.atelier-anna.fr/galerie-d-anna/illustrations-de-contes-pour-enfants-aquarelle.html

There are many stories, exhibitions, projects and enchantments that I’d like to share with you. All that I’ve seen, studied and experienced. Here are a few reflections:
